Mr Sia is the Chief Executive of the Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore), a non-profit organization representing the aerospace industry in Singapore. He also serves on a number of government and education committees. These include the CAAS Unmanned Aircraft Systems Advisory Panel, Singapore Institute of Technology Industry Advisory Committee for aerospace degree programmes, the Advisory Board of the Aviation Studies Institute, and the Centre for Liveable Cities as Resource Person.
Before joining the Association, Sia worked at the Singapore Economic Development Board (1993-2016), the lead government agency for planning and executing strategies that shape the future of Singapore’s economy. Senior appointments held include Director for Transport Engineering, Deputy Director for Resource Development, Policy Development, Aerospace & Logistics, and Project Director for Leadership Development. Concurrently, he served as Director for the Aerospace Programme at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (2011-12).
Sia began his working career in the semiconductor industry. He holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering from Nanyang Technology University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical & Production Engineering from the National University of Singapore. He was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2004.
