Wayne Ng has been recognized with the Best Student Presentation Award at the 2023 INFORMS Annual Meeting in Phoenix. Wayne presented his PhD research, which focuses on the development of optimization algorithms for aircraft sequencing and scheduling in congested terminal airspace regions. This work was conducted under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Nuno Ribeiro and is a part of the ongoing “Resilient Airspace Operations” project for CAAS.
Currently, efforts are underway to incorporate Wayne’s algorithms into a user-friendly interface. This interface will simplify the testing of various airspace scenarios and the exploration of different strategies for managing air traffic around Changi Airport. The ultimate goal is to assist the airport in reducing delays, minimizing fuel consumption, and lowering emissions.
