The Aviation Studies Institute (ASI) has published the fourth white paper in its series. The paper looks at flights in Southeast Asia of up to 500 km length and weighs-up the outlook for the segment.

With environmental concerns gradually rising up the agenda in Southeast Asia, new land transport infrastructure and aircraft technologies on the horizon, several recommendations are made for policy makers. The paper also highlights some disparate policies that are affecting ‘super short-haul’ air passenger traffic in the region.

The white paper forms the first of a two-part analysis that considers the broader integration of transport connectivity in Southeast Asia. The second part will be published in the next two months.

The paper is available for download on the Resources section of the website. A direct link is here: ASI White Paper – The Future of Super Short-Haul Air Travel in Southeast Asia.

The paper follows previous publications in the white paper series. These look at the future of ASEAN Hub airports, airport slot allocation policies during the recovery from COVID-19 and future concepts of operation within air traffic management.
